Analysis of sea conditions for manned submersible operation in Southwest Indian Ocean

The southwest Indian Ocean is an important area for deep-sea investigation and exploration. In this paper, the spatial distribution temporal variation characteristics of wave elements in sea were analyzed by using high resolution reanalysis data (ERA) from European Center, optimal path set tropical cyclones provided Joint Warning Center (JTWC) global ocean circulation model (OFES). results show that monthly mean effective height relatively large, ranging 3.5m to 5.5m. season stable, with highest winter lowest summer; frequency higher summer autumn lower winter; most suitable operation time manned submersible November march next year, other needs select good conditions operation.
